Progress on the Pie Costume

Cherry Pie and
Lattice Crust Fabric
The cherry pie fabric I ordered from Spoonflower arrived!

It is a sports Lycra and since it's from Spoonflower it is a white fabric and the design is printed on it. With that process in mind, I was slightly worried about it potentially being see-through, but when I got it I was pleasantly surprised. It has a nice feel and despite it being very stretchy, I'm not worried about it being see-through when I wear the garments made from it.

Cutting Time!
After washing and drying the fabric I decided to get cracking on my pie costume for the upcoming Pie Run. Because of my time limitations with work I am unable to create a pattern for my workout outfit from scratch and I have chosen to use a commercial pattern from Simplicity for my workout pants. After remeasuring myself (my size has gotten a lot smaller since I took measurements last year), I cut out the pattern and laid out the pieces on the fabric. I am insanely thankful for my cutting table, no more sore back while cutting!

Once I laid all of the pattern pieces out and I realized I would have enough fabric to make a sports bra in addition to the workout pants. So instead of chugging along with my workout pants I took the time to go ahead and cut out all of the pattern pieces for a sports bra so that I could just go ahead and cut everything out all at once and be done with that first stage of the process. I now have all of my pattern pieces cut out in fabric for the workout pants and the sports bra. Next step is sewing! I have all of the extras (elastic, knit needles, correct color thread, etc) and I'm ready to finish this pie costume base!

After I complete the workout pants and sports bra and I will be trucking along with my pie inspired vest and whipped cream hat. I purchased the materials to do the vest, but I am saving the hat for last just in case I run out of time. Also, because I am worried about being able to run while wearing a hat. Once I start sewing the garments I will post more progress photos.

Malotke Writes - Updated Website

Guess who got new headshots done? Me! I've been continuing to submit various written pieces (poems, drabbles, flash fiction, short stories, etc.) and have been needing headshots for some of the submissions. Since I have been using my photo from senior year of college (shot for the fashion show program) I had decided that maybe it was time for some new, and way more recent, photos.  Pictured left is one of my favorite photos from the photography session. I've already updated my website using a bunch of the photos and I've sent them off for social media / marketing for upcoming interviews & anthologies that I'm included in.  Here is a link to my writing website: Malotke Writes

Mood Board for Writing Characters

The Dire Circle - " The circle is dire, much like the outcomes of these stories. In this black zodiac themed anthology, you may come to dislike other people...maybe even yourself."   When I pitched an idea for "The Dire Circle" during 2021, I wasn't sure that it would even get picked. But, once it did and I was given a Black Zodiac to then develop my short story, I decided to do what I do for costuming a character - I made a mood board for my main character.  My Black Zodiac was the Serpent and my short story for the anthology is Twisted Tales, Dripping in Honey . My story centered around a very femme fatale main character with lots of buried secrets. I looked to old Hollywood glamour, dark reds, demon eyes, and other glints of seductress mixed with sweetness to create Melia . For me, coming up with a name was very difficult. After creating what should would look like, having an idea of her voice, her outfits, her drive, everything about her, I still needed the
